Happy New Year 2020

You can plan for a lot of things in photography, but the weather, that’s always outside all of our control.

After being front and center last year I jumped at the opportunity to come back. Again I am deeply grateful to Titanium Fireworks for giving me the opportunity to be up close and personal for the show.

But due to unforeseen weather conditions, up close turned into engulfed.

Just as Bib Ben struck midnight and the crowd cheered,, add fireworks lit up the sky, the air changed. It became incredibly still. Not even the slightest breeze came up The Thames. Usually I would welcome a still evening in the city, however for fireworks lovers this was not to be the case. Without any air movement the smoke form the 12,000 explosions had nothing to take it away and soon the cloud grew and creeped eerily across the Thames like a The Mist from a Stephen King novel.

A couple of minutes into the show I was engulfed in smoke and sadly the display was obscured from view for all the thousands of visitors who had traveled into the city.

It incredibly unfortunate as I know just how much hard work, coordination and dedication the team at Titanium Fireworks puts into putting on a good show. It did However make for some interesting photographs.

Lets hope the weather holds out for next year.
